Saying Farewell to Planet Orbis...
As the 2010 school year came to a close, so to did our Planet Orbis Project. The individual blog posts below have been composed by the students who took part in this Year 5 Extension Maths Project.
Students were asked to reflect on their learning, thinking about what they had learnt using OpenSim for the very first time and what they enjoyed about the experience. In working with these students, it was always exciting to see so many hands shoot up as we asked them, “What have you learnt today?”
Very special thanks to the incredibly creative Mr B, our Year 5 Extension Maths teacher, and the wonderful students for their enthusiasm during this project.

Hello, I am Waktanbor and I am from Planet Orbis!
I created a crop circle to communicate with the humans! I learnt that if you hollow out shapes you can go inside them! I learnt that you can make objects wider, bigger and longer! I learnt that if you put things together you can make other objects! I liked making a house and changing my avatar!Life on Planet Orbis
Greetings earthlings,
My name is Tasmara and I come from the wonderful place, Planet Orbis.Planet Orbis is a place where you can learn and have fun and where you can experiment with all kinds of things such as building. I have learnt to build a crop circle and I have also learnt how to make my own buildings and objects. I enjoyed everything to do with Planet Orbis but my favourite thing was using the buliding controls such as copy shift, resize and the camera controls. I have also enjoyed making my own clothes and trying on different things. Bye for now, Tasmara.

Hi, my name is Sillybananathemasterofeverythingweknowandsillystuff the Third and I am an Orbisite on Planet Orbis. I have seriously enjoyed my time on Planet Orbis and have been creating a crop circle to communicate with those human things. While constructing it, I have learnt how to make things hollow, change their textures and alter their sizes. I have enjoyed all aspects of Planet Orbis, but I really loved changing my clothes and body the most. Kind regards, Sillybananathemasterofeverythingweknowandsillystuff theThirdMy Planet Orbis Project
Hello, my name is Bobby Bilbobbilbobdobbylob,
During my time at Begonia Island I have created a crop circle to communicate with humans from earth. I have learnt how to build objects and how to change the texture, colour and size. I have also learnt how to stretch and hollow out objects. My favourite parts were changing my appearance, building and taking snapshots. My Time On Planet Orbis
Greetings my friends,
My name is Tatumtonumko Abashabali and I am from Planet Orbis. I have been making crop circles to communicate with humans on Earth. I've learnt how to build with different types of colours and shapes. I have learnt how to use the camera controls and change the time of day to take some great snapshots. I really enjoyed making my crop circle and flying around taking snapshots of other crop circles. My Crop Circle
Hi, my name is Yakomo Dudushi. I am an Orbisite from Planet Orbis.
I learnt how to use the Camera Controls to take an excellent snapshot. I learnt how to build things using lots of shapes, textures and colours. My favourite parts were building my crop circle, flying around looking at other ones and using the environment settings to change the time of the day.My Crop Circle Project
Hi, my name is Lesley the Orbisite.
I have been enjoying time in Planet Orbis.
I have learned how to work the camera controls. I have also learned how to make buildings, hollow them out, change their textures and, last of all, make crop circles. My favourite thing to do is to make huge constructions.
My Crop Circles
Hello,
For the last few weeks I have been experiencing a time in a Virtual World.
I have enjoyed playing Open Sim and I have learnt how to use the pie menu and how to use the camera controls and take snapshots. One of my favourite parts of Open Sim is when we get to create objects like houses, cylinders and many more shapes. From, Blobby KeverletalatisBGS Crop Circle
Over the term students have been working on an interesting topic of designing crop circles through a virtual world. They made these crop circles in order to cummincate with humans.
I have enjoyed exploring the world and learning about the camera controls and different building tools. I wish I could continue with this next year. My favourite activity was definitely building.
From,
Dippie Doo Dock Lock
